Kitekahunas kitesurfing instructors team together with the participants of the A, G and F kitesurfing course in December 2009. After a week of kitesurfing washing the kites in the garden at the Kitekahunas Beach House. It was a kitesurfing course with different nationalities and great action on the water!

When did you start your kitesurfing career?
Kiteboarding I started professionally in 2007 and I absolutely love it. I am proud of my German Speed Kitesurfing record which is at the same time the Outright Speed Sailing Record for Germany - the record of all classes and sails. I grew up at the northern boarder of the Alps and as a kid and teen I have been skiing every day for half of the year - and now I do the similar thing on the water. At Kitekahunas I concentrate on our teaching methodology, the sports psychology side of teaching kitesurfing in Cape Town, and students and instructors can share in my experience as a speed kitesurfing champ.
Explain your favourite kitesurfing trick
Very high jumps with board grabs. Raileys. Unhooked rotation jumps.
Explain the kitesurfing trick you are working on now
S-Bend and other unhooked tricks and carving waves.
What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?
My absolute favourite kitesurfing spot is Sunset Beach, Cape Town. Not because it is directly on our doorstep of Kitekahunas, but because it has the best wind in Cape Town - and with this it is therefore the best wind in the world from October till April, but also the most constant and clean waves and flat water in between.
What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?
There are very few sports that I have not done in my life. I enjoyed most mountain hiking, scuba diving and skiing, but now kiteboarding is the definite crown.

2000 on 2-line inflatable kites (no depower, no security, no upwind) & directional board.

Still like the high Jumps, now more into the strapless waveriding / skimboarding

Everything concerning strappless waveriding.
What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?
Every place where there is good wind, flat water or nice waves,I don’t like choppy water ! So CapeTown is pretty good :)
What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?
Swimming, occasional snowboarding, Tai Chi, dirtbiking

Explain your favourite kitesurfing trick
Going high and do some high kiteloops. I also really enjoy slashing into the waves.
Explain the kitesurfing trick you are working on now
On flatwater it’s unhooked tricks; in waves I love to take them more extreme - the bigger the wave the better.
What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?
Every spot where I had a good session and where I could share it with new and old friends.
What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?
Paragliding, speedflying, snowboard, ski, snowkiting, tennis and piano.

I took my first lessons in 2010 but I had to stop for half a year due to a knee injury.
Explain your favourite kitesurfing trick
On the ocean I always look for the best kicker to boost me in the air :) On flatwater I like unhooked tricks.

What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?
Cape Town, specially when there are nice waves and inbetween perfectly flat water
What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?
I used to play football my entire life but had to stop because of knee injuries. Other than that: skiing, snowboarding, snowkiting, wakeboarding, volleyball, table tennis

When did you start your kitesurfing career?
I started Kitesurfing in 2008. Since then I am an addict to this sport and go out onto the water whenever there is wind and in Cape Town there is enough of it.
Explain your favourite kitesurfing trick
I really enjoy waveriding in big waves but BIG jumps get my heart pumping real fast.
Explain the kitesurfing trick you are working on now
I want to get my waveriding up to scratch.
What is your favourite kitesurfing spot?
When Big Bay in Cape Town is not too crowded, I njoy beeing out on the water having fun and training until the sun sets.
What are the other sports/hobbies you practise next to kitesurfing?
I have been playing InLine Hockey for 14 years and now I play IceHockey in Cape Town. Other than that I still do MuayThai and play an occasional game of Golf.
